Huzefa Patel strikes for SRMSC

Coimbatore: A fine all-round show by Huzefa Patel (five for 31 & 44) enabled Sri Ramakrishna Mills Sports Club score a six-wicket win over RKS Cricket Academy in the Canara Bank-CDCA first division league at the SNR Sons grounds here recently.

The scores: First division: RKS CA 71 in 18.5 overs (Huzefa Patel five for 31, Mohan four for 28) lost to SRMSC 75 for four in 18.2 overs (Huzefa Patel 44). Second division: Best VP XI 201 in 49.5 overs (Suresh Babu 59) lost to TTRC 202 for six in 48.2 overs (K. Ganesh 80). Fourth division: Coimbatore Raiders Academy 227 for seven in 50 overs (Dinesh Pandi 74) bt Cosmo Village ‘B’ 218 in 45.2 overs (Madanagopal 74, Venkatesan four for 32).
Easy win

Suburban HSS scored an easy 127-run win over Corporation Boys HSS (Sidhapudur) in the CDCA inter-school non age group cricket tournament for the Saravana Jewellers Trophy at the SNR Sons grounds on Tuesday.

The scores: Suburban HSS 172 for seven in 20 overs (Sundareswaran 40, Vivek 41) bt Corpn. BHSS (Sidhapudur) 45 in 13.3 overs, Vivekananda MS (Tirupur) 72 in 16.5 overs lost to Sathya Sai MHSS 75 for two in 9.1 overs, Satchidananda Jothi Niketan 101 for seven in 20 overs bt Trinity MHSS 72 in 16.1 overs.
Double for Elgi MSS

Elgi MHSS, Vellalore, clinched the under-14 and under-16 girls’ titles in the 18th annual district-level basketball tournament, organised by the Coimbatore District Sports and Games Welfare Association, at the PSG Tech courts recently. Earlier, Stanes HSS ‘B’ edged out Stanes ‘A’ 25-23 to pocket the under-14 boys’ title.

In the district level karate championship, Victory Vidyalaya (Viswasapuram), with 39 points, took the top spot, while Ruby MS (27pts) and Kumarasamy MS (21 pts) pocketed the next two places respectively.

Girls: U-14 (Suguna G. Ramasamy Rolling Trophy): Elgi (Vellalore) 35 (Raghavi 16) bt St. Joseph’s MS 6.

U-16 (Dr. MGR Rolling Trophy): Elgi 36 (Sanjana 16) bt Stanes 25.

PSG tournaments

The 36th State level inter-collegiate basketball tournament and the 31st State level badminton tournament for the PSG trophies, organised by the PSG College of Arts and Science, will be held at its premises from Dec. 15 to 17 and Dec. 29 to 31 respectively. GMCC wins

At Namakkal, GMCC (Tiruchengodu) defeated SFCC (Mohanur) by 23 runs in a lowing scoring match of the Canara Bank-DCAN second division cricket league at the ICL Colony grounds recently.

The scores: GMCC (Tiruchengodu) 99 in 34 overs bt SFCC (Mohanur) 76 in 21 overs.
Venkatramana CC lucky

At Salem, Venkatramana Cricket Club, won by the spin of the coin against The United Gymkhana in a rain hit match of the Canara Bank-SDCA first division league at the Neelambal School grounds recently.

The scores: First division: Venkatramana CC 168 for eight (R. Vasanthraj 86) bt The United Gymkhana (VCC wins by spin of coin). Second division: Gandhiji CC 117 in 32 overs lost to Students Junior CC 79 for two in 29 overs (Gandhiji CC wins due to revised target). Third division: Youngstar CC 184 in 32 overs bt Government EC 78 in 19 overs.
