Bangalore season from November 7

BANGALORE: The Bangalore Winter Meeting is scheduled to commence on Friday (Nov. 7) and will go on till March 28, 2009.

Racing will be held mainly on Fridays and Saturdays, with concurrent winter races to be held at Mysore for a period of sixteen days mainly on Wednesdays.

Stakes for the fourth, fifth and sixth placed horses will be paid, only if there are at least 8, 9 and 10 acceptors respectively.

It is expected that the Club would be paying stakes and incentives of nearly Rs. 12 crores during the ensuing meeting
Re-constituted

The Board of Appeal has been re-constituted with Mr. Jayant Shah (Chairman), Mr. Shanker Mahadev Bidari, Mr. Shivakumar Kheny, Mr. L. Revannasiddaiah and Mr. Suresh Kumar Sharma. Mr. B. Shivaprasad has been appointed as Chief Stipendiary Steward and Mr. T.S. Mahendher will be the clerk of the course.

A maximum of eight races would be conducted on all race days, except when there is only one race day during the week and classic race days and concluding day of the winter meeting, when a maximum of nine races would be permitted.

The changes in the basic weights in respect of all terms races for 3 & 4-y-o & over have been revised in view of the revision of minimum weight to 50 kgs.

The penalties in terms races have also been further reduced with a view to further compressing the scale.

Sharma Memorial Sprinters Trial Stakes, Feb 7: Stayers Trials Stakes, Feb 14: P. Dayanand Pai & P. Satish Pai Bangalore Winter Million, Feb 21: Governor’s Trophy and Mar 28: Heeroji Lad Bangalore Juvenile Million.
