Chandigarh (PTI): Haryana Health Department would recruit about 800 doctors, including 500 specialists, in the next one- and-a-half month to fill up the vacant posts in the urban and rural areas in order to improve the health delivery system.
The department has also decided to take effective steps to minimise out of pocket expenses incurred on indoor treatment by patients and provide free education to all hemophilia children up to class 10th in Government schools of the State, Health Minister Kartar Devi said at a press conference here on Friday.
She said that the recruitment of doctors has been taken out of the purview of the state Public Service Commission (HPSC) and the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) and the Department has envisaged a new policy under which recruitment of Medical Officers would be a "continuous and ongoing process" aimed at filling the vacancies as soon as they arise.
In order to encourage doctors to join public service, State Government has approved in principal the hike in the pay scales of doctors besides granting them 25 per cent of the basic pay as Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA). Doctors with postgraduate degreewould be given six advance increments and diploma holders would get four advance increments.
Devi said that with a view to strengthen the health services in the rural and difficult areas, the Department has a plan to give special incentives to doctors under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).
Doctors with MBBS qualification serving in rural Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Community Health Centres (CHCs) would get a monthly incentive of Rs. 5000 under NRHM and those posted in Morni and Mewat would receive a monthly incentive of Rs. 10,000.
