Illegal constructions razed in Sector 55

Chandigarh, October 31 : The Enforcement Wing of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) demolished illegal constructions in 54 houses in Sector 55 on Friday.

Out of these, 40 were existing constructions on the Government land and illegal additions had been made on them. In three cases, owners had added an additional floor in violation of the rules. Seven ongoing illegal constructions were also demolished. Four of the constructions raised had already been served notices. According to rules, no fresh construction can be carried out without prior information and approval from the board.

The demolitions began around 10 am and continued till evening amid heavy police protection. The additional SHO of Sector 39 police station was also present on the spot and 30 labourers were involved in the drive.

Housing Board secretary Kamlesh Kumar was present on the spot as duty magistrate. The demolitions were conducted under the supervision of executive engineer (enforcement) Sunil Malik. The officials reported that the housing board is adopting serious steps against the violations which had been directed by the Administration.

More anti-encroachment drives are expected on Monday and in the coming week in Sectors 38, 39, 41, 44 and 47.

Housing board computerises allotte accounts

Keeping pace with modernisation and technological advancement, the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) has computerised the allottee accounts. Under process in a phased manner, the CHB is providing information of allottee’s account on its website. As many as 50 CHB schemes have been made online on the official website, www.chb.co.in. Of the total 125 schemes, the rest will be uploaded in the next 20 days as reported by the senior officials.

“With the commitment to provide better public service to the residents through e-governance which is efficient and cost effective, the CHB has computerised the allottee accounts for various housing schemes,” said Kamlesh Kumar, secretary, CHB.

Personal details of an allottee including date of birth, mobile number, PAN number, house number, sector, cost of house, bank name as well as the payment details including the dates of payment, installment paid and amount paid are available on the website.
