Kolkata, November 5 : The Jindal Group expressed concern over the mine blast in Salboni targeting the convoy of Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Union Minister for Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers Ram Vilas Paswan on November 2.
Six policemen were injured in the blast that damaged one police vehicle. Four policemen were brought to Kolkata for treatment.
“It was a matter of great concern. The programme at Salboni was so good but it was spoilt by the incident. Now, Salboni has become famous for all the wrong reasons,” said Biswadip Gupta, CEO, Jindal South West (JSW) Bengal, at the Writers’ Buildings on Wednesday.
Gupta, along with the security officer of his company, came to the Writers’ to attend a meeting with Home Secretary Asok Mohan Chakrabarti and other officials of the CM’s secretariat.
Gupta said they were not worried about the security of the project. “We believe that they are not opposed to the project. Had they been so they would have opposed it much earlier. We never received any threat. This project will change the entire social and economic life of that area. Why will anybody oppose it?” Gupta asked.
A Government official, meanwhile, told The Indian Express: “The chief minister was against the suspension of the three police personnel. When he was told about the action, he expressed his resentment.”
