Nadigar Sangam protests

As planned the Nadigar Sangam’s protest against innocent Tamils being killed in the war between rebel forces and Lankan government started at the Nadigar Sangam premises at 8 a.m. The fast will be broken at 4 p.m.

It was one of the most heart-warming sights: all the actors of Kollywood, irrespective of the differences in their mother tongue, religion, ideologies, political affiliations, beliefs stood united for the Tamils of Sri Lanka. They might be from different states and might have different mother tongues, but they all are Tamils in heart because Tamil Cinema is the one that gave them their identity.

Every Kollywood actor was present at the Nadigar Sangam precincts. Actors including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sarathkumar, Ajith, Vijay, Surya, Prabhu, Arjun, Lawrence, Jayaram, Nayantara, Sneha, Ramya Krishnan, Mumtaz, Manorama, Vijaykanth, Mansoor Ali Khan, Karthik, Napoleon, Sundar C, Radha Ravi, Sathyaraj, Vadivel, Y.G. Mahendran, J.K. Riteesh, Rajesh, Dhamu and Karunas and many others were present at the protest and many were on their way.

Actors were seen greeting and thanking each other for coming in and then seated themselves in a well-arranged “pandal”, which was substantial enough to withstand rain in case it occurred. Nadigar Sangam has made good arrangements for them and provided adequate security; special commandos have been employed.

Nadigar Sangam kept receiving phone calls from many Lankan Tamils who wanted to convey that they were overwhelmed by the support of Kollywood.
