Sandalwood lures dentist

Meet the bubbly Mysore belle Roshini, who wants to earn name and fame in Sandalwood.

Not many girls from Mysore usually evince an interest in acting in films. However, Roshini, a dentist, wants to remain in Kannada films.

She is working hard and not leaving any stone unturned.

Roshini has passed Bharatanatyam exam (senior) and won first prize in western dance competition organised by Keerthi Film Institute in Mysore recently.

Becoming an actress was Roshini’s long cherished dream.

Her grandparents acted as the lead pair in a Tulu film 'Tapaswini' in 1980. “They died before I was born. I think that acting is in my gene. I asked my parents’ permission to act in films but they agreed provided I complete my education,’’ said Roshini.

Roshini debuted in Kannada films by acting in Bhaya.com.

When asked how she felt while facing the camera, she said: “I had no fear (bhaya) while facing the camera. To act in films was my ambition. Perhaps, my ambition might have made me bold while facing the camera.’’ Roshini’s has already completed four films even though her first film ‘Bhaya.com’ is yet to hit the silver screen. Her other films are ‘Team’ (under progress), ‘Auto’ and `Yeshtu Nagthiya Nagu’. She plays a housewife who fights with her husband in the film `Auto’. She has played veteran character artist Ananth Nag’s sister-in-law in the film `Yeshtu Nagthiya Nagu’. She has high hopes on all her films. ``With God’s grace I got good roles in all these films. However, I have high hopes on `Yeshu Nagthiya Nagu’, a comedy. I learnt a lot from Ananth Nag sir during the shooting. I may get more offers when this film is released. I hope the audience will accept this film,’’ Roshini said.

“There is no dearth for offers. Many producers and directors have approached me to act in their films. But, my friends and well-wishers are advising me not to grab whatever comes my way,’’ said Roshini.

Is Roshini doing social service? “Whenever I am in Mysore I will make it a point to attend my father’s dental clinic. I also recommend poor and orphan children to visit my father’s clinic where they can get treatment for free. I also assist my father in treating such children,’’ Roshini added.
