The gentleman returns

Kollywood witnessed a rare mega launch at the Green Park Hotel on Sunday morning. A giant elephant graced the lawns. A King Kong ape beat drums along with three drummers in the car park area of the hotel. Posters and hoardings announcing a new film were all over the area. The grandeur was there for all to see. And the man behind it all, Gentleman fame, KT Kunjumon was seen smilingly greeting guests as they soaked in all with awe.

The King Kong and the elephant may be life sized but unreal. But Kunjumon’s next project seems larger than life and his comeback to Kollywood is a reality. ARS Movies (P) Ltd launched Kadhalukku Maranamillai amid all the fanfare and hoopla it could garner. The whos who of the industry turned up to wish the film a grand success. The list included director Shankar, RB Chowdhary, SA Chandrasekar, Abirami Ramanathan, KRG, AN Azhagappan, Kalaipuli Sekar, Pandu, K Murlidharan, Kadir, Subramania Siva, SP Muthuraman, Saran Raj, Abbas and many others apart from the cast and crew consisting of Nizhalgal Ravi, Sriranjani, Madalsa, Tejas aka Rishi, Bharadwaj, and debut director C Balajee.

Abirami Ramanathan admitted he had never seen such a grand launch while Shankar came to wish his mentor a grand success. SP Muthuraman wished Kunjumon every success in his new venture and brave attempt to re-establish himself in the industry after a gap of many years. “He is doing the story and the dialogues of this film as well and has given another new director, C Balajee, a chance along with newcomers as hero and heroines. I wish the man who gave us greats like Shankar and Prabhu Deva, will achieve a hat trick with this film,” said Muthuraman.

The cast includes Suhasini, Ganja Karuppu and Sachu as well. Revealed Kunjumon, “The film will be shot in Dubai, Chennai, Pondicherry and Ooty and shooting will commence on November 4.” When asked how he was feeling after his re-entry into Kollywood he replied with a smile, “I am totally self-confident.” In this age of mega projects ( Sivaji, Dasavathaaram, Enthiran and Marmayogi ) will the king of them all make a grand re-entry that will shake the box office once more? Let’s wait and watch.
