But those in the packed movie hall on Tuesday morning when the trailer was launched, didn’t seem to mind paying the price to watch the concert of Bombay Jayashri and TM Krishna. What enticed them more was the luxury of watching their singers in close up for a good 110 minutes wherever they be seated, especially watch TM Krishna flourish his hands as if dissecting his carnatic compositions, eyes closed blissfully to the seven Red cameras capturing him. “It wasn’t like a serious shoot, it was actually six hours of fun,” TM Krishna later explained, about the shoot for this Carnatic music movie.
MP Kanimozhi, who was the guest of honour, wondered why our stages weren’t as beautiful as the one shown in the movie (art by Rajeevan and cinematography by PC Sreeram). “Instead, they always have just colourful things hanging behind the dais,” she observed. “And I’m watching now with good audio effect, because our concerts regularly have pathetic sound systems,” she added.
The trailer had vignettes of the concert, which is jointly presented by Real Image, Aghal Films and Sathyam Cinemas. On seeing the trailer, Kanimozhi exclaimed that she felt like a kid given a chocolate and let to eat only half of it, unable to bear the wait. The entire sweet treat is slated for a December 18 release, worldwide.
