Ty Wigginton signs with Orioles

The Orioles have reached a two-year agreement with free-agent Ty Wigginton, reports Ken Rosenthal from FoxSports.com.

According to Rosenthal, Wigginton will likely serve as a right-handed hitting first baseman and designated hitter, while backing up Melvin Mora at third base.

…i know a lot of Mets fans were interested in seeing the team sign wigginton… but, from what i can gather, after hitting .285 with 23 HR last season, he was a) not interested in taking a step backwards, and returning to Queens as a back-up player, which is how he started his career, and b) similarly, he was trying to find the biggest guarantee, with the most playing time possible, which i guess was the O’s…
