Bobby Deol is a fine talent. But somehow, the actor doesn’t appear in films as frequently as he ought to.
When we catch up with this modest actor, he tells us that he has been keeping very busy. “I’ve been working on some projects. I have finished two films, Ek and Roshan, for our home production company.”
Bobby is the protagonist in a film that’s hit the marquee today. While the actor has immense expectations from the film — and justifiably so — the supporting cast includes the likes of Priyanka Chopra who plays his love interest. Then, there are others like Irrfan Khan, Ritiesh Deshmukh and Arshad Warsi, each of whom can leave a mark with their on-screen histrionics. What is his character all about? “I play the title character who is an orphan. He grows up in a rough environment where he is in situations that leave him with no choice. Once he is nabbed by the police, they look at his skills and recruit him to handle covert operations. During his work, he meets Priyanka’s character and he faces his past thereafter,” he explains.
This is not the first time Priyanka and Bobby are coming together on the big screen. And, the twosome also has another flick, titled Dostana, to look forward to. Surely, they get along very well. “This is the third film Priyanka and I are working together. We share a great relationship, and it is a pleasure working with her.”
When we ask him about his forthcoming films Heroes and Dostana, the actor avoids letting out any secrets about the plots. But, once one asks him about his big brother Sunny, it seems he has hit upon one of his favourite topics of discussion. “It is always great working with him. We are working together in our company and planning to produce a lot of films. Sunny is right now directing a film called The Man,” he adds.
Since he has grown up in an environment of films, does he intend to become a director like his brother? “Right now, I’m happy being an actor. But, I want to work on various projects,” he says without discussing his dreams. Understandable, since dreams turn into fulfilled objectives only after they materialise.
