Kate denies stealing hair product idea

Hollywood actress Kate Hudson has denied reports that she stole Los Angeles-based 220 Laboratories’ idea for a line of haircare products.

According to sources, the company had accused the beauty of taking a sample of their volcanic ash hair care product and creating her own line with it in collaboration with celebrity stylist David Babaii.

Kate, Babaii and their manufacturer Universal have been charged with misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract, breach of confidence and fraud in the legal documents, for coming up with eco-friendly collection of shampoos and styling aids, which is said to contain a special key ingredient - volcanic ash.

However Kate’s spokesperson has squashed all such claims saying they are baseless. "Kate does not know the plaintiffs and has never met with them or spoken with them, Her representatives believe that the claims are baseless and without merit and (they) intend to vigorously defend the lawsuit," Contactmusic quoted Kate’s spokesman, as saying.

The lawyers for 220 Labs are demanding unspecified damages and attorney’s fees.
