Inducted by Elton John into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a member of the Beach Boys) 20 January 1988.

He has four children: all sons. Matt is the oldest, then Adam (both feature on the Christmas Album, and they were born of Lynda Sperry - the subject of Lady Lynda) and Robert and Andrew (who are the twin sons of Al and MaryAnn)

(June 2006) Living, with his 17 year old twin sons, and their mother, MaryAnn, in Big Sur, California. He works producing artists at the Big Red Barn as well.
