Southampton have agreed a deal to extend Christian Dailly's loan spell at St Mary's by another month.

The 34-year-old West Ham United defender has spent the last month with the Saints, impressing in his five starts for George Burley's side.

Burley told the club's official website: "Christian's come in and done really well and I'd like to keep him as long as possible.

"He's a great pro with great experience. We brought him in for a month initially as we had other players coming back from injury but we've actually lost more players and we're really short of numbers."
