Roger Federer locked down the season's world number one ranking for the fourth year in succession as he won the Swiss Indoors on Sunday over Jarkko Nieminen.
The superlative Swiss claimed the honour on his home court with a 6-3, 6-4 win in 61 minutes to lift his second straight title at the St Jakobshalle where he got his start as a ball boy.
The top seed heads the field for the season-wrapup Masters Cup in Shanghai starting in a fortnight.
He improved to 8-0 over Niemimen, who had the best week of his season after knocking out former Australian Open finalists Fernando Gonzalez and Marcos Baghdatis back-to-back.
Federer would not be denied after losing last weekend's Madrid Masters final to David Nalbandian.
The Swiss won his seventh title of the season as he prepares to play in the Paris Masters next week.
Federer became the fifth man since the inception of the rankings in 1973 to be year-end number one four times (Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl and Pete Sampras were the others).
