Colorado College found itself in a deep hole early in the final match of its spring-break road trip on Monday, and never could climb out.
Down 5-0 after one period and 8-1 at halftime, the Tigers dropped a 14-5 decision at Siena College.
CC’s top three offensive threats – Karen Friefeld, Malia Vitousek and Liz Weber – accounted for all five goals in the loss, with Friefeld and Vitousek scoring two apiece. Weber added an assist and a pair of steals.
Now 3-4 overall for the season after going 2-4 on their trip to Pennsylvania and New York, the Tigers are off until resuming action at the Midwest Invitational in Kenosha, Wis., on April 3.
Katie Ness had a hat trick while Nicole Hagi tallied twice and added four assists for the Saints, who improved to 6-10 by winning their 2009 home opener. Ness also had a game-high four steals for Siena.
