Mischa Barton to play lesbian teen

Mischa Barton has signed up to play a lesbian in her latest movie. The former O.C. star will portray Russian teenager Lana in Finding t.A.T.u about two girls who fall in love at a t.A.T.u concert.

The film, based on a novel, tells the story of “Two teenage girls, Janie who is American and Lana who is Russian. The two fall in love after meeting at a t.A.T.u concert and are swept into a dangerous world of obsession, drug abuse and murder.”

t.A.T.u. were a fake lesbian Russian pop duo who caused controversy with the single All The Things She Said in 2003.

The accompanying video saw the girls, who were wearing school uniforms, share a kiss. It was later revealed they pretended to be in a lesbian relationship to boost publicity.

The film is due out next year.

Mischa, 21, has played a lesbian before. Her The O.C. character Marissa Cooper had a brief fling with wild child barmaid Alex.
