Won the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics in the Men's 100 Meter Backstroke, the Men's 200 Meter Backstroke and the Men's 4x100 Medley Relay in swimming.

Won the silver medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics in the Men's 200 Meter Backstroke in swimming.

Youngest American to swim the 200-meter backstroke under 2 minutes, which he did at age 15 at the 1999 Spring Nationals.

Attends the University of Texas, where he was a swimming standout during his two-year NCAA eligibility period before turning pro (2002-2004).
