Teacher beaten up, tonsured

BEHRAMPORE: A maulvi-cum-teacher of a madarsa had a fellow maulvi allegedly thrashed and his head shaved for being a cheat. The incident did not take place in the bad lands of Bihar or anywhere in the Hindi heartland but in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district.

That, too, at a mosque in Gorabazar, Behrampore, on Saturday. Hafiz Md Tofazal Hossein, the battered maulvi and a resident of Dangapara in Naoda, has filed an FIR against Hafiz Arshad at Behrampore police station on Monday.
