Angelina lied about Zahara's mother

Angelina Jolie’s adopted daughter, Zahara’s biological mother has expressed her disappointment over the Hollywood actress making statements that she died of AIDS, when actually she is alive and healthy.

The ‘Tomb Raider’ actress adopted the Ethiopian tot in 2005, and claimed that the girl's natural mother had died of AIDS.

In a recent interview, Mentewab Dawit Lebiso disclosed the horrors of her past, revealing that Zahara was conceived during a rape.

She said that when she became unable to feed the child, she ran away rather than seeing her baby dying.

Following this, Mentewab’s mother Almaz Elfneh was forced to negotiate with Girma, a local man, who took the baby to Addis Ababa, and struck the adoption deal with the international adoption agency Wide Horizons For Children, saying that the tot’s mother had died of AIDS.

"He promised he would keep in touch. He said he would bring back the baby to visit after five months and he would send me a picture. He also promised to introduce me to the family that would adopt her,” Almaz said.

Almaz said she never told Girma or the authorities that her daughter had died.
"But then Girma came to me and told me that the baby had been adopted and taken abroad. He said there will be journalists coming to you and you must deny the whole story and say it is not your granddaughter,” she said.

Now, Mentewab has alleged that what the local man did is equivalent to kidnap.
"What he has done is tantamount to kidnap. He took my daughter and just disappeared with her saying I was dead,” Mentewab said.

She owned up to recognizing that Zahara has far better prospects with Angelina and Brad Pitt, but added that she is upset over Angelina saying she’s dead.

"She will have a better life with Angelina. If she had stayed with me she could have died,” she said.

"I'm happy to see my daughter in a better life, in a better place. The thing that makes me upset is that Angelina is saying I'm dead – I'm alive and have never had AIDS,” she added.

The 24-year-old also expressed her discontentment over Jolie’s failure to contact Zahara’s natural family or even sending a picture of the little girl, adding that she would like the actress to bring her daughter to visit her birthplace and family.
"She must know her country, she must know her family, that's where her identity is," she said.

Jolie was unavailable for comment.
