The ruling alliance in Karnataka is in trouble after a series of differences between the Janata Dal(S) and the BJP combine.
Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda cancelled a meeting with BJP President Rajnath Singh in New Delhi and returned to Bangalore.
Talks on the transfer of power from the JD(S) Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy to a BJP Chief Minister have been suspended for the moment.
The suspension comes a day after the state's Tourism Minister Sriramalu of the BJP accused Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy of conspiring to murder him.
The transfer of power is due in October after 20 months of the JD(S) Chief Minister Kumaraswamy leading the government.
