'Moon took money from Avinash and dumped him'

BHUBANESWAR: The Avinash-Moon story is turning murkier by the day. Avinash’s father Bhupen Patnaik on Monday alleged that model and her family took huge amounts of money from the young businessman, who is accused of shooting Moon’s mother and uncle before turning the gun on himself.


"She (Moushumi ‘Moon’ Das) used to take lakhs of rupees from my son. She used him and dumped him," Bhupen told TOI on Monday. He refuses to accept that his son could have killed anyone or even committed suicide and rejects Moon’s claim that Avinash was mentally unstable. Insisting that Avinash was murdered, Bhupen said: "Only four hours before the alleged shooting in Mumbai, Avin-ash had spoken to his mother over phone and sounded normal and cheerful. There is no way he would have killed anyone a few hours later. Moreover, if someone plans to commit a double murder why would he park his car in front of the apartment?"

Demanding a CBI inquiry into the incident, he said the bank accounts of Moon, her family members and Avinash should be checked. "I am sure Moon and her family took a lot of money from him. I suspect money could have played a part in the killings."
