rmances Nii (Ghana), Annette (Nigeria), Iyanya (Nigeria) and Praise (Nigeria) topped them all but only one out of the lot can win the ultimate prize at stake. So what do each of them bring to the table and better yet who has what it takes to win the competition?Iyanya seems to have what it takes to win singing competitions of this nature. He has a great voice and the ability to belt out ballads. So based on vocal performances, he just might knick it! But when was the last time we heard of a successful West African balladeer?
Nii, is a formidable force because he knows how to move the audience and the crowd loves him. His 'cutesy' innocent demeanor makes him endearing to the crowd. He has a good voice but obviously prefers doing hip songs with great hooks and not necessarily ballads that show off his vocals needed for a singing competition. Nii is the one contestant most likely to have a hit song that reflects the current trend of music across West Africa, due to his style. Whether that would be 'great music' is another story. No wonder the crowd loves him and the judges don't always agree.
Praise has a wonderful voice but unlike Iyanya, he hasn't been able to master the use of his voice yet. He his talented and plays the piano almost as well as John Legend, he even tries to sing like him but he isn't quite there yet. The ladies seem to like him a lot and that might just work in his favour. Ha-ha!
And then there is Annette aka little but mighty. She has an amazing voice and a wonderful personality. She has been the strongest female student throughout the competition but her performances have been quite forgettable. Apart from her amazing duet with Kojo, she hasn't been able to stand out as a clear potential winner. But I just have a feeling that doing operatic Andrew Lloyd Webber songs wouldn't fly in West Africa.
Back to the question, who wins Project Fame West Africa? My money is on Iyanya and Nii although Annette could spring a surprise.
