One way the Clark County School District could save money next year is by closing two small rural schools. Thursday night, local parents are meeting to keep this from happening.
Parents told the News 3 Kids First Team that the school district is considering closing Goodsprings and Mount Charleston Elementary Schools. Only 15 kids attend the schools. If the schools are closed, kids could face long commutes.
The parents' meeting is set for Thursday night at 6 pm at Goodsprings Elementary. Wednesday night's meeting at Lundy Elementary was cancelled and is expected to be rescheduled.
The school board is expected to vote on the future of the two schools on January 22. The Clark County School District faces about $120 million in budget cuts next year.
