RENO, Nev. -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said he's a big fan of President-elect Barack Obama's latest two nominations for Cabinet posts.
Reid said Colorado Sen. Ken Salazar is "exceptionally qualified" to be secretary of the Interior.
The Nevada Democrat said Salazar knows the American West and understands the challenges of increasing energy security while meeting water needs in the coming century. He said he believes Salazar will restore the Interior Department's "tarnished reputation on science and ethics."
Reid said he also looks forward to former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack becoming secretary of agriculture because he respects the importance of farming and ranching in rural America.
