This is the highest energy consumption recorded in southern region on Thursday.
According to the officials of Energy department, all efforts are being made to restore power generation. The APTransco officials have already taken up the matter with the officials of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at Ramagundam for restoration of power supply.
They ensured normal power supply by purchasing additional power from private units and stepping up generation using naphtha. The efforts were also made to ensure seven hours power supply to agriculture sector.
The officials said that heavy rains in Tamilnadu hampered the mining activity at Neyveli causing shortage of fuel for the power generation units. They also urged the officials concerned from different power generation units to ensure availability of coal to maximise the generation.
The situation is likely to improve in a week, the officials said.
