Oakland authorities named a 27 years old Lovelle Mixon as the suspected in yesterday's shooting that killed three Oakland police officers.
Before we turn to Lovelle Mixon let's honor the police officers and their keep their families and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers that were killed yesterday in Oakland protecting public safety. According to KCBS the 3 police officers killed were all sergeants: Erv Romans, 43, , Dan Sakai, 35, and Mark Dunakin, 41,, police said. This was the first time that any sergeants in the department have been slain.
"The fourth, Officer John Hege, 41, of Concord, was involved in the second shooting and remains in grave condition Saturday night at Highland Hospital. A fifth officer was grazed by a bullet. He was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital."
The police stopped Lovelle Mixon's car at about 1PM for a traffic stop at east Oakland near the Eastmont. Mixson, who was wanted for violating parole on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, opened fire on the officers and run. He was later found in an apartment by an anonymous tip.
Two hours later, the Lovelle Mixon barricaded himself in an apartment building at Hillside Street and 74th Avenue, and the SWAT team went in. Two other offices were shot, while Mixon, who whom police believe was acting alone, was killed.
