James had a non-musical childhood

British singer James Blunt was deprived of popular music during his childhood.

The 33-year-old was introduced to classical music when his mother gave him a violin at just five — but the ‘You’re Beautiful’ hitmaker hadn’t heard chart hits until classmates introduced them to him at school.

He says, “At home we just had once CD player so I had limited access to music. The guys at school obviously had much bigger record collections than I had so they introduced me to different types of music.”
