Gary Condit Back in the News

Remember Gary Condit? He is the congressman whose political career was ending over the missing Chandra Levy (and his affair therewith), only to be bumped from above-the-fold coverage by the terrorist attacks of 9/11. Well, it appears he is back, sorta, but guess what - he ain’t the suspect

There are reports that D.C. police have submitted evidence to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in an effort to get an arrest warrant for a man identified as Ingmar Guandique.

He’s behind bars, convicted of assaulting two women jogging in Washington’s Rock Creek Park.

An inmate serving time with Guandique reportedly told investigators that Guandique told him he killed Levy, but Guandique is said to have told police he saw Levy in the park, but didn’t harm her.

Not that this is entirely (or at all) relevant to politics nowadays, but it is interesting to see an eight year old story resurface, especially one that got buried for the reasons this one did in the first place.
