11 a.m. The national tour of The Wizard of Oz will hold auditions for local children to play "Munchkins" as part of the N.Y.C. show in March. At Madison Square Garden, north concierge doors near Borders Bookstore.

4 p.m. New York Knicks team members Jared Jeffries and John Starks join Kym Hampton of the New York Liberty to coach basketball drills as part of the Junior Knicks program. The West Side Y.M.C.A., 5 West 63rd Street.

6 p.m. The opening reception for "Hand Made in Italy" exhibit will be hosted by the Italian Trade Commission and the Italian Vegetable Leather Consortium. At Openhouse Gallery, 201 Mulberry Street.

6:30 p.m. The New York Center for Independent Publishing presents "publishing innovators:" Robert Miller and Jason Epstein to discuss "what contemporary publishers may bring to the next generation of readers and presses." At 20 West 44th Street.

6:30 p.m. The Gotham history forum series presents book a signing by historian Beverly Gage, who will present her book: The Day Wall Street Exploded: A Story of America in its First Age of Terror. At C.U.N.Y. Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Avenue and 34th Street.

6:30 p.m. Soho Billiards celebrates Fat Tuesday with The Catholic Fellowship of N.Y.C. for a "Fat Tuesday Party/ Fundraising Event." $35 buys unlimited pizza, alcohol, and the use of pool tables. At Soho Billards, 298 Mulberry Street.

7 p.m. Former New Yorker correspondent Dan Baum will speak on his exploration of "the guts of New Orleans both before and after Katrina" in relationship to his book: Nine Lives: Death and Life in New Orleans. At Barnes & Noble, 2289 Broadway and 82nd Street. Admission is free.

7 p.m. Professor Jim Porter + Johnny Ace and Sidewalk Zydeco perform Fat Tuesday show at Ace of Clubs. 9 Great Jones Street, between Broadway and Lafayette Street. Admission is free.

7 p.m. "The Biggest FAT Tuesday Party In N.Y.C." is held at Justin Timberlake's Southern Hospitality. With "Thousands & Thousands of Custom Beads!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and live performances by Mike Preen & The Hot Six. At 1460 Second Avenue and 76th Street. Price: $0-$45.

7 p.m. A Fat Tuesday Party w/ Bill Malchow & the Go Cup All Stars who will perform the classic album "Dr. John's Gumbo" (and more). Featuring Brian Seeger on guitar, also: Stanton Moore, Aaron Neville, The Funky Fritters and special guests. Tickets are $10. At Sullivan Hall, 214 Sullivan Street.

7:30 p.m. Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center will perform at Alice Tully Hall, new pieces by William Bolcom and George Tsontakis will be unveiled. At 1941 Broadway and 65th Street. Every seat in the house is $25.

8 p.m. The "CineKink Gala & Fund-raiser" will kick off CineKink N.Y.C.'s sixth annual film festival with an erotic sires of short films: Artcore, The Blue Rose, physique art, and Erotic Moments.
