Eddie Doyle, the real life Cheers bartender, has been laid off. Eddie Doyle the Sam Malone of “Cheers” bar Bull & Finch on Beacon Street, has been laid off because of the economic downturn.

Doyle had been the bartender at the Cheers Bar for 35 years. Doyle even served as a consultant on the hit NBC TV series. Now the economy has resulted in Doyle being let go.
Reports put Eddie Doyle’s number of costumers at 5,000 per day when the tv show first aired. 5,000!
Local reports say Eddie bares a resemblance to Cliff Clavin and others say he will still get a weekly check til December 31.
