Groundhog Day 2009

I woke up this morning, eagerly awaiting a groundhog to tell me if this rough winter would soon be over!

Well, here's the bad news. Punxsutawny Phil has emerged from his Pennsylvania hole bright and early this Groundhog Day morning, and did not see his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter. A cute tradition, but depending where you live, you can pretty much bet that winter is not over on February 2nd.

The forecast was announced in the town of Punxsutawney, 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, PA. Thousands of people gathered to see the groundhog. Since 1886, Phil has seen his shadow 97 times and hasn't seen it 15 times.
