In her forthcoming film Dus Kahaniyan, she will be seen in an absolutely new avatar. For her role as Sia in the short story Zahir opposite Manoj Bajpai that’s directed by Sanjay Gupta, Dia’s skin tone has been made 15 shades darker than her normal peaches and cream complexion.
When Gupta told me about it, I was equally shocked. I thought that if they wanted, they could have just cast a duskier actress,” reveals Dia. However Gupta was adamant on casting Dia for the role as ‘she has the eyes that say it all’.
“Well, the role was definitely challenging,” smiles Dia. So apart from spending endless hours on trying to get under the skin of her character, the pretty actress had to sit through almost three to three-and-a-half hours of gruelling make-up sessions, trying to get the right skin tone.
But the professional that she is, Dia’s not complaining. “I usually take about 45 minutes for my entire make-up including hair and stuff, but this one took three hours for the face alone. It was fun doing something I wouldn’t have even thought about in my wildest dream. But honestly, it’s all to do with the spontaneity and the zest for life that Sia exhibits that really made me do the role,” she adds.
