Horror: Miss World Finalist Amputee Shock - Mariana Bridi da Costa

A shocking story from the world of beauty pageants as a Miss World finalist is now an amputee! The horrific story reveals what happened to the young woman and why she had to have both hands and feet removed. According to a report from the UK Telegraph, "Miss World Finalist Mariana Bridi da Costa, 20, fell ill on December 30 and has had her hands and feet amputated after contracting a severe urinary infection.

Softpedia reports that she had her feet amputated first and the once the doctors realized there was no other way to save her life the doctors took the dramatic decision of amputating both of them. She is now fighting for her life.

Thiago Simoes, told the G1 news website that Miss Bridi fell ill on Dec 30, but was initially misdiagnosed with kidney stones, however Bridi was diagnosed with an infection by the Pseudomonas aeroginosa bacterium, which can often prove fatal.

According to a report from the UK telegraph, "Miss Bridi twice made it into the national finals for the Miss World contest, and last year travelled to China to participate in the Miss Bikini International pageant."
