112109: Atlantic City Announces Valentine's Day Specials

Looking for some Valentine's Day fun in the Atlantic City area? We just received this rundown of special packages, from hotel offerings to romantic restaurant specials, from the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority:

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ, January 21, 2009 – If romantic trysts, steamy love affairs and searches for singles are on tap for Valentine’s Day, there’s no better place to celebrate than the city that’s “always turned on.” Atlantic City is toasting lovers with romantic hotel packages, lavish events and special prix fixe dinners from some of the destination’s hottest locales.

Events

The Absecon Lighthouse is hosting “An Evening of Romance and Renewal” from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Couples will have the opportunity to “make out” with their loved one in the lighthouse tower with catered aphrodisiacs on each level while dancing to romantic DJ spins. An on-site minister will conduct a vow renewal at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $100 per couple. Proceeds benefit education programs at the Absecon Lighthouse. Everyone’s favorite elephant, Lucy, a historic 65-foot tall wooden monument built in 1881 and the world’s largest pachyderm, will play host to a romantic evening of dining and live music on February 14. A gourmet dinner will be prepared by award-winning chefs from Philadelphia and New Hope, complete with choice of five appetizers, five entrees, two sides, dessert and coffee. Each couple will receive a complimentary champagne toast in addition to a rose for ladies and bag of peanuts for gentlemen. Weather permitting, photos will be taken atop Lucy as a keepsake. Two seatings are available for 20 couples each. The cost is $245 per couple, plus $40 gratuity with a portion being tax deductible. The Pier Shops at Caesars will host a complimentary Valentine’s Weekend Reception on Friday and Saturday nights, February 13 and 14. Live entertainment, champagne bars and specialty chocolates will be available to shoppers on the third floor restaurant level. Special offers from retailers will also be showcased. Seven gourmet restaurants are located on level three of the Pier Shops, many of which will offer Valentine’s cocktails and cuisine. Stephen Starr’s Buddakan and Continental will feature the regular à la carte menu with chef specials throughout the weekend. On February 6, The Quarter at the Tropicana is partnering with SoJO 104.9 FM for a live on-air Kissing Contest with host, Chris Knight. The broadcast will air from 3:00-7:00 p.m. and the contest kicks off promptly at 4:00 p.m. Winners are decided based on longest kiss. For $29.99 per person, House of Blues Restaurant’s menu consists of several appetizer and entrée choices such as Chicken Tortilla Soup, Pistachio Crusted Rack of Lamb, Mardi Gras Crab Cakes and Molten Chocolate Cake for dessert. The French Quarter Buffet will host a lavish Valentine’s Feast for $25.99 per person including a glass of champagne. Guests may indulge in everything from Crawdads and Tasso Ham Etouffee and Low Country Shrimp Sautee to Pork Chops with Sweet Potato Gravy and Brioche Crusted Tilapia with Champagne Cream. DJ’s Steakhouse invites guests to feast on a Lobster Martini appetizer followed by Filet Mignon Wrapped in Applewood Bacon and Chocolate Truffle Bavarian to finish. Harborview is serving Baked Stuffed Long Stem Artichokes with Jumbo Lump Crab Meat, Grilled Veal Medallions and Mediterranean Shrimp with Lemon Risotto and White Chocolate Tiramisu Heart with Caramelized Strawberries.
