nfl playoff overtime rules: DRAMA IN QUALCOMM

The Colts and the Chargers, knotted at 17 through 60 minutes, are heading for overtime.

San Diego has stayed in the game, and ultimately tied it up with less than a minute to play, despite the absence of running back LaDainian Tomlinson, whose injured groin limited him to only five carries for 25 yards, with one touchdown.

In L.T.’s absence, Darren Sproles has gained 82 yards on 17 carries. But a key fumble by Sproles near the goal line in the second half derailed a Chargers’ drive.

If the team that wins the toss drives the ball down the field and wins the game with a field goal, we hope that there will be an outcry that leads to a change of the league’s overtime rules.
