The Real Deal on Joanna Pacitti
In case you're just joining us, you may not know much about AI superplant Joanna Pacitti, who will be appearing in tonight's Louisville audition episode of American Idol. Here is a quick summary so you can catch up and understand why she's worse than Carly Smithson and does not belong on the show.
Joanna appeared on Broadway at the age of 12 as Annie, but was replaced, causing her mother to sue. This made national headlines. Then at the age of 16, Joanna was signed by Ron Fair (the man who found Christian Aguilera and Vanessa Carlton) to a record deal with A&M Records. She then had her song "Watch Me Shine" featured in the movie Legally Blonde, her song "Fall" in First Daughter, her song "Pretty Much Amazing" in the Nancy Drew movie, and her song "Out From Under" featured on the Bratz Movie Soundtrack (Britney Spears would later go on to cover "Out From Under" on her latest album, Circus). Along the way she trasitioned to Geffen Records where she released a single, "Let It Slide" (above), and an album in the summer of 2006. Joanna went on a press tour and performed for companies such as Walmart. She was soon dropped when her album failed. Currently she is dating Mark Ballas of Dancing With the Stars fame, and has angered many Sabrina Bryan fans who accuse Joanna of stealing her man. Joanna also may have gotten her spot on Idol by being friends with 19 Entertainment's (the company behind Idol) VP of Music and TV Publicity Roger Widynowski. Joanna also once stated that, "[fame is] handed to people way too easily. I’d rather have my experience than overnight success"... yet then tried out for American Idol. You be the judge. Does she deserve yet another chance after having so many opportunities?
