EASTENDERS - PENNY DANCES OUT OF STRICTLY

Penny Lancaster-Stewart has become the latest celebrity contestant to be voted out of this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The model found herself up against EastEnders star Matt Di Angelo in the bottom two on tonight's show after the pair received the least votes from the public following Saturday night's BBC1 show.

And a tearful Penny was forced to say goodbye to her fellow contestants after three of the four judges voted for Matt and his dance partner Flavia Cacace to stay in the competition.

Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood had voted for Matt and Flavia to stay after the climactic dance off, but Arlene Phillips left the final decision firmly at the feet of head judge Len Goodman after picking Penny and her dance partner Ian Waite to remain in the competition.

And Goodman told Penny - the wife of wrinkly rocker Rod Stewart - that while he felt she didn't deserve to be in the bottom two, Matt and Flavia's dance had been slightly better on the night.

To coincide with Remembrance Sunday, the BBC1 show had a military theme as Blue Peter presenter Gethin Jones topped the leader board for the first time on the show.

Contestants had danced a Viennese waltz or a salsa, with Gethin and partner Camilla Dallerup named the first contestants through to next week's show.

And former footballer John Barnes and dance partner Nicole Cutler sailed through after being given a ten by judge Len Goodman, an amazing recovery after being named in two dance-offs already this series.
