Koena to play superwoman

Even as other actresses in Bollywood are wishing that they get to play the role of a female Krrish, Koena Mitra has gone ahead and essayed the role.

And in no less than a Hollywood film! Says an excited Koena, “I am playing the role of a superwoman in the film called Karn. It is an international film and the fact has thrilled me no end. It is a Rs 90 crore project and I am the only Indian face in the cast. The film has a lot of special effects and will be shot in four to five locations. The shooting has already begun and the movie should be released by next year.”

On the Bollywood front too, one of her films with Dino Morea is ready for release. But ask her if she has lagged behind in Bollywood, and Koena is categorical, “I never wanted to be a part of this bheed. I like to have my own identity. For me, it was always a dream to act on the big screen. Not only did I achieve it, I also got to work with successful actors and directors like Sanjay Dutt, Subhash Ghai etc.” And established is the watchword for her. “At this stage of my career, I will not work with newcomers... I feel that it is a risky proposition,” she adds.

This onscreen sex siren maintains that she is a traditional girl otherwise. “Many think I’m a bold girl in real life too, based on my screen image. But I am a serious and traditional person. In fact, I am clear that I will marry somebody who will prove to be a responsible person and a good father. I am very conservative that ways,” she smiles.

Is that how she always thought or did she learn from her mistakes? “I am not the kind to commit mistakes and then learn from them. I would rather learn from others’ mistakes,” she signs off.
