'Non-stop Bible reading heightens noise pollution'

Aizawl: Mizoram State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB) came down on the non-stop Bible reading being held at Presbyterian churches by the Kristian Thalai Pawl (KTP) or Young Christian Association, youth wing of the Presbyterian Church, using loud speakers, as it enhanced noise pollution in the capital city.

The MSPCB on Friday urged the participants not to use loud speakers, especially after 10 pm IST, as it violated the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2002.

A press release issued in Aizawl said that the Board has received a number of complaints regarding the ongoing Bible reading through public address systems.

The KTP began the non-stop Bible reading almost in every locality since Monday while some local churches postponed it as many students were preparing for their annual examinations.
