The shooting of Sujoy Ghosh's Aladdin was delayed by over four hours as Amitabh Bachchan's shoes and socks went missing during the lunch break. And what followed was huge chaos as the entire unit went hunting for Big B's shoes and socks!
Says a source present on the sets, “During the lunch break Amitabh Bachchan, who plays a genie, got busy with some interviews. When we resumed shooting, we realised that Big B's socks and shoes were missing. He must have removed them during the lunch break. After which they wre misplaced. We could not continue with the shoot as his shoes and socks are an important part of his genie look. Also, we had to find the shoes and socks in order to maintain the scene's continuity.”
What followed next was a circus of sorts. “We started losing out on shooting hours. Gradually, everyone present on the sets, including Ritesh Deshmukh, Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez, Sahil Khan and the director Sujoy Ghosh started looking for Big B's shoes and socks.”
As Amitabh plays a genie, he three to four interesting looks in the film. The designer, Narendra Kumar and his entire stock of clothes was also raided as someone guessed that the missing shoes and socks may be where all the costumes were kept. However, no one found the missing articles. “Although the shooting was stalled for a few hours, the entire episode was also hilarious to some extent,” adds the source.
As the unit almost reached pack-up time, the cast and crew members were getting anxious. They were also worried as it was time for Bachchan to call it a day as he is particular about starting work right on schedule in the morning and stopping working at 6 pm every evening.
Finally, Bachchan's spot boy managed to find the shoes and socks and the unit resumed shooting. “Much to everyone's delight, Big B was gracious enough to make an exception and continue shooting till 11 pm,” says our source.
