PNC to replace Soha!

Soha had been signed to play Chandramukhi but now Pritish Nandy Communications, the producers of the film, have decided to replace her. However, there is no change in the rest of the cast. Shiney Ahuja and Lara Dutta will continue to play Devdas and Paro respectively.

A well-placed source from the industry revealed that Sudhir wanted Soha to play Chandramukhi’s role. Mishra and Soha have struck a splendid working rapport after Khoya Khoya Chand . In an interview Mishra had said, “I’m very keen on Soha playing Chandramukhi in my version of Devdas . I would like to work with her any time.”

However, a source said, “PNC is not keen about Soha Ali Khan playing Chandramukhi. The hunt for the replacement is going on. Soon, PNC will make an announcement.”

When contacted, Rangita Nandy of PNC remained non-committal about Soha’s role in the film. She said, “We will make an announcement when we are ready to confirm Chandramukhi’s casting.”

Mishra, however, admitted that Soha is not doing Devdas . “I wanted to work with Soha in Devdas . But the role has changed. Chandramukhi is no more an Indian in the film. Hence, Soha does not fit the bill,” he said.

“But yes, I will surely make another film with Soha. She is a brilliant actor. After Khoya Khoya Chand , I share a great professional relationship with her,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mishra has yet another film with Soha — Tere Kya Hoga Johnny? (TKHJ), which also stars Neil Mukesh, Kay Kay Menon and Karan Nath. TKHJ is about a street child named Johnny which is essayed by a 13-year-old child artiste Sikandar, who was one of the main characters in a film called Shadows of Time. TKHJ has been written by Mishra, Joydeep Sarkar and Pankaj Kapoor.

Mishra was supposed to start work on Devdas immediately after he had completed Khoya Khoya Chand . But Devdas has been delayed. So, he went on to do TKHJ. “ Devdas will now roll in March. In January, I will consider doing another film with Soha. TKHJ has only four days of shoot left,” Mishra said.
