Maybe it was the induction of Hiten Tejwani as Anurag Basu that didn't work. Maybe Mr Bajaj's (Ronit Roy) umpteenth return from the dead was unconvincing. Star Plus driver show, Kasauti Zindagi Kay, will go off air early next year.
A source reveals, "Balaji Telefilms have informed the cast that Kasauti will be off television on January 14. This way they get enough notice to look for other work."
Tejwani says, "It's sad that the show which helped create the saas bahu genre is finally getting over." But he's glad that Kasauti is ending on a good note.
Did it have something to do with lead protagonist Shweta Tiwari's turbulent private life? "I guess when the main Star has family issues, it does reflect on the show," admits Tejwani. However, another source insists that Tiwari did not miss a single shoot and is hardly the cause for the exit of Kasauti Zindagi Kay.
The source adds, "The best thing about the show was that it was love story intertwined with family drama. The decision to pull it off air is the right one, the viewers clearly didn't like the latest generation. Also, it was becoming tough to continuously create tracks with the three principal characters, Bajaj (Ronit Roy), Prerna (Tiwari) and Anurag (Tejwani)."
