Need an excuse to eat more Thanksgiving goodies? Hal Downing's mass email this week highlights a number of rides on Friday and throughout the weekend. Get on his email by dropping him a note at hdowning@whww.com and, in the mean time, check out a synopsis:
Here's the special Thursday and Friday rides:
a. Lakemont will ride both days - meet at Lakemont Elementary at 7:30 a.m.; the group decides the route!
b. Team Armada is hosting a "Turkey Burner Century" this Friday, November 28, at 8:00 a.m.! From the Armada's website (http://www.armadaracing.com/): "Turkey Burner" is a 100-mile un-supported century, so please be well prepared in case of a flat tire and pack plenty of water, gels, power bars, etc. There are two convenience stores along the way to get food and water. The ride start/finish location is at Lakefront Park, 31 W Garden Ave., Winter Garden, FL 34787. We roll out at 8:00 AM sharp, Friday 11/28. This is not a no-drop ride, so if this is your first time attempting a century ride, this is not the one to do. However, it will not be a hammerfest. The pace will be moderate enough that most experienced riders will be able to sit in with no problem. There will be turn-by-turn instructions (cue sheets) at the ride start,
c. There's banter on the Windermere Roadies website but nothing's definite on a time for Thanksgiving Day. Check-in at -> http://www.windermereroadies.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5342
d. The Space Coast Freewheelers (www.spacecoastfreewheelers.com) will ride Thanksgiving Day! They'll do their Suntree - C Ride departing from the MacDonald's at US-1 and Barton Boulevard in Rockledge at 9:00 a.m. for 34 miles. Contact Paul at 321 960 6536!
