The Indian Air Force said its helicopters are involved in dropping commandos on Nariman House, where attackers have taken hostages, and conducting surveillance operations elsewhere in Mumbai.
The air force is carrying out the operation in a “systematic way” in coordination with the navy and the army, spokesman Mahesh Upasani said by telephone in New Delhi today.
The air force is patrolling the coastal areas off Mumbai and sensitive areas of the city, Upasani said.
Commandos have taken positions on the rooftops of buildings surrounding Nariman House in the city’s southern Colaba area.
