Former Prime Minister Vishwanath Pratap Singh, who was the pioneer of the first non-Congress coalition government at the Centre and one of the major leaders of Mandal movement, passed away in New Delhi after a prolonged illness. VP Singh was suffering from blood cancer since 1991. He was also suffering from renal failure.
VP Singh was 77. He died this afternoon at Apollo Hospital in New Delhi. Unfortunately, VP Singh's demise almost went unnoticed by the electronic media because of the coverage of terror attack in Mumbai.
